Victorian Governess Tawse from MEO

Impact Play

Today I am reviewing the Victorian Governess Tawse from MEO.

This two strap Tawse is a severe instrument of corporal punishment; the kind of strap used by the stricter Victorian governess and nanny on their wards in days gone bye. This fine instrument is made of the finest 12-14 oz (4-5mm) leather.

It is 19.1/2 (50cm) inches long and 4 inches (10cm) wide at the business end; where there are two tails, that pack a real sting. This strap was carefully hand crafted to original specifications. All the edges are marked with a saddlers crease line, fully bevelled and burnished to a fine smooth finish.

If you are a serious collector of disciplinary instruments, this is a must for your collection.

My first thought when I opened this was holy crap! It is heavy, really heavy. It feels great in your hand, and has a lovely flex to it. As any good domme does I tried it (very lightly) on the inside of my arm, and then I swore a lot. Then I messaged my friend who has the best little wiggly sub girl ever, to tell him all about it. I believe my message was a photo with the caption this needs to meet xx’s arse.

The Victorian Governess Tawse is not a toy for people who like gentle play, this is a toy for those who like to feel the pain. *Grins evilly* It’s really nice. If it was being used on me I would need a serious warm up first. So far I have only been the giver, and have left some absolutely gorgeous stripes with it.

I kind of feel like this is a two in one impact play toy. The edges feel slightly sharp, so they really sting on impact but it is also heavy enough that the impact thuds through the bottom.

I really liked the Victorian Governess Tawse. Leaves a lovely strip on naughty bottoms.

Vintage Leather Wrist Cuffs from @LatexLeather

Lockable Leather Wrist Restraints

Vintage Leather Wrist Cuffs

The Oscuro Vintage Leather Wrist cuffs arrived in a plain grey polythene envelope with no markings indicating the contents. I was slightly concerned about how well the packaging would have protected the cuffs but there was no need, they were well surrounded by bubble wrap, as well as contained in a plastic bag, and they looked perfect.

The first thing I noticed when I opened the bag was the smell; that delicious warm smell of real leather. It was so good that for the first minute I just sat inhaling without paying attention to the cuffs themselves. When I did I wasn’t disappointed. The leather was soft and mostly supple, only slightly stiff in its newness.  It had a lovely feel, and I found myself stroking the leather.

The stitching on the Oscuro vintage leather wrist cuffs was nice and even with no rough spots, are sharp patches. Both sides of the leather were smooth and soft. The inner leather was shinier than the outer (vintage layer) and I thought this might make the cuffs rub but I found they were comfy to keep on all day even when it was warm.

The buckle and D-ring are stainless steel, as is the supplied trigger hook and chain link. They are all well attached and can take a good amount of tugging. Plus the steel looks beautiful with the vintage leather.

As you can see the clips and chain can either be attached to the D-Ring, or they can fit onto the buckle posts to prevent removal. An excellent feature if they are being used to punish a naughty slave. The supplied chain is also just long enough that you can fasten it around something to help keep your partner in place.

The Oscuro vintage leather wrist cuffs are comfortable to wear for an extended period, for my first testing I wore them all day while I did stuff around the house, and worked. The leather started softening even further with the first use, and they have continued to become more flexible with each use.

Overall

I loved the Oscuro vintage leather wrist cuffs. They were comfortable, stylish, and well made. The quality was obvious immediately. The only thing I would be careful about is getting any fluids (lube, oils, body fluids) on them, as it might ruin the soft vintage leather.

Sexy Milestones – Not Wicked Wednesday

Wicked Wednesday

Sexy Milestones was supposed to be a post for Rebel’s Notes‘ Wicked Wednesday. However I didn’t get it finished in time. However, I liked the prompt so much, I decided I would still write the post anyway. The prompt was:

Sexy MilestonesThe prompt for this week is ‘milestone’. What milestones have you reached or are you working towards? Are they sexy milestones? Why are they important to you? Why have you chosen for these specific milestones?

Sexy Milestones

I spent some time mulling over this. I was going to write about some of my writing and blogging milestones but I felt like I’d already covered these in previous posts. I decided I wanted to talk about some sexy milestones.

Over the last few years I feel as if I have had a bit of a sexual awakening. It started about 10 months after I lost my Dad, when I went a bit crazy and made some not great decisions that had varying degrees of success. It really kicked into gear when I started HornyGeekGirl. All the things that I’d had a vague interest in trying but barely ever mentioned in the past suddenly became things I needed to try. Like spanking; I’d tried it in the past with an ex but he’d only used his hand and it was only once because after he saw the bruises the next day he wouldn’t do it again……he was actually really upset about the bruising. I’d really enjoyed it though so it was always in my head that I’d like to try it again.

That didn’t happen until after I became HornyGeekGirl though. The first twelve months of this blog were an interesting learning curve. I’d always considered myself pretty open-minded, and not at all innocent or naive but then I started my blog (and reading other blogs in the community) and I realised how sheltered I had been. If you read my first column for CaraSutra you will know that I learnt a lot about myself from writing as HornyGeekGirl. Going to events and meeting other bloggers, and writers gave me the opportunities to explore more of the things I was interested in trying.

Last year at ETO I (very briefly) met a fellow blogger, and afterwards we got chatting online. It was great because I’d read their blog and felt totally safe talking to them about the things I was curious about. They happened to be a dom, and although (as you all know) I am NOT submissive, some of the things I wanted to explore were what I considered more submissive things. After chatting for a while and meeting up a couple of times, we decided it was a good time to explore some of the things I wanted to try. First up was impact play.

That was my first big sexy milestone for 2015. My first real experience of proper impact play with someone who knew what they were doing. I got thoroughly spanked; then flogged, paddled, and caned. I managed way more ‘pain’ than I thought I would, and I had the bruises for about a week. I was very proud of them. Lol. There is a post coming about the whole experience so I won’t go into too much detail here but needless to say it was awesome, and an experience I definitely hope to repeat.

My other sexy milestone for 2015 was butt play. I had always said it was a hard no for me but I realised last year, that I’d become curious about it. So many ladies I knew loved it and I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I still occasionally get a bit squicky over it but that’s just a mental block rather than anything else. So I’m taking it very slowly, still haven’t done full on anal sex yet but I have played with butt plugs of varying sizes……some of which even though they’re small by some people’s standards still feel like a challenge to me.

Only two sexy milestones (three if you count realising I’m bisexual as a milestone) last year but for me they were big ones….and they really helped me start establishing who I want to be now.

The Feminist Sub – Empowered and Subservient

Guest Post by Laura

Today’s guest post is a fantastic article on “The Feminist Sub” by Laura from School of Squirt. As always with my guest posts, I have applied only minimal editing for SEO purposes.

The Feminist Sub –

Why It’s Possible to be Empowered AND Subservient

Women today can find empowerment in places where it simply didn’t exist a decade ago. Young girls are encouraged to explore their talents in maths and science more often. As they grow up opportunities in higher education and employment are more plentiful than ever before. The Suffragettes and Feminists of the 1960s would no doubt be proud of just how far women have come in terms of independence, confidence and autonomy.

But what would they think about women who choose to be submissive? Can you be a feminist sub? This is a question raised by women across the political and philosophical spectrum. Can a woman be a feminist and still be submissive to her sexual partner?

Some women know early on there’s an allure to being submissive while others discover it somewhat by accident. A woman who may be experienced in variations of vanilla sex may be happy with her sex life. Right up until the moment a partner switches things up, dominating her and causing her first squirting orgasm. Then suddenly, everything changes.

In her review of Cheris Kramarae and Paula Treichler’s A Feminist Dictionary, writer Marie Shear made history when she declared “Feminism is the radical notion that women are people.” Since then, this basic principle has become the foundation upon which modern feminism was born. Today’s feminists want equality, justice and to simply be seen as a person instead of a sexual object.

Until they get to the bedroom. For many women, the allure of submitting themselves to the wishes and desires of another person is their sexual ideal. For these women, balancing their daytime persona as independent, intelligent and confident women alongside their sexual desires to be submissive can be a bit tricky.

But at its core, feminism is about women taking control of their own lives. That includes pursuing higher education, careers that are driven by their passion and any other goal they’ve set for themselves. It also means taking control of their sex lives; knowing what they want and what they need to achieve earth shattering orgasms.

Taking control and determining what you want means embracing that submissive side. This can be a difficult process for women who have fought hard for their independence and respect from peers, but being a submissive doesn’t diminish a woman’s accomplishments outside her bedroom. They can, in fact, bolster those achievements. They can be a feminist sub.

Being a submissive is about more than simply agreeing to everything asked of you by a dominant partner. When a submissive gets together with a dominant partner they hash out what’s acceptable, what’s not, and how a submissive can signal to her dominant that she isn’t okay with something. This is most commonly done with a safe word but some couples include non-verbal signals or a mix of both which are used depending on how much the submissive objects. Ultimately, this places power in the submissive’s hands as she has the ability to bring the dominant (and submissive power exchange) to a screeching halt.

Being willing to give up your free will and submit to another person is no casual endeavour. The women who choose this life do so with the understanding that their trust will not be misplaced and that their partner will respect their boundaries. While the BDSM world is often linked to abuse, the fact is BDSM couples have more respect and better communication in couple hood than many of their so-called ‘mainstream’ peers.

In 2013, a study published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine found that people who engaged in BDSM shared a number of startling characteristics. BDSM fans were:

  • less neurotic
  • more outgoing and confident
  • more likely to try new things
  • more conscientious
  • better able to handle rejection

At the end of the day, engaging in a submissive role isn’t a declaration of how a woman sees herself in general. Instead, it’s like having any other sort of kink – it’s an expression of her own sexuality. That means she owns and controls it just like any other part of her life, even when that control presents as submission. This doesn’t make her any less of a feminist – it just makes her a person who is confident enough to know when she wants something different; a feminist sub.
